Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose work have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a new backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the nature of people through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our common bold, daring approach to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
