Jet Transporting US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Fracture in Cockpit Window
A plane ferrying Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an unplanned landing in the UK on Wednesday after a crack was identified in the jet's front window, according to an announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The aircraft landed in accordance with established safety measures and everyone onboard, such as Pete Hegseth, is unharmed," an official representative commented in a online announcement.
Hegseth was returning from a quick journey to the city of Brussels at the time.
This occurrence does not mark the initial instance that a US military aircraft ferrying a senior official has experienced equipment failures.
In a previous incident this year, a American military jet carrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was required to turn back to Washington DC after encountering a mechanical problem.
