Manchester United Set to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Acquisition for United
The forward, with half a year remaining on her deal, is known as a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing is viewed as a marquee coup for the WSL team.
Departure from Munich has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the German club’s fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top strikers. According to reports, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a significant uplift to United’s attacking options. She has been highly reliable in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Steam at Old Trafford
Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club seem to be building momentum.
Recent performances include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official commented: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
